Best of Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (May 2, 2019) — Virginia Living’s eighth annual Best of Virginia issue will hit newsstands May 16. The statewide guide to all that is “best” in Virginia dining, shopping, and doing, Best of Virginia 2019 lists the more than 1,500 winners from the magazine’s Readers’ Survey, conducted in January. In the Southwest Virginia region, Sugar Hill Brewing was chosen as the #1 brewery! More than 45,000 people voted in 106 categories, covering the best in Arts, Culture & Entertainment, Living & Recreation, Food & Drink, Shopping, and Services across the state.

Best of Virginia 2019 is the guide to everything from the best shopping mall in Northern Virginia and the best barbecue restaurant in the Southwest, to the best hotel in Eastern Virginia, the best hospital in Central Virginia, and the best outdoor adventure in the Shenandoah Valley.

Plus, the issue features bonus stories with the theme, Living the Wild Life. They include native plants and animals, trailblazing restaurants with stunning views and unique foods, and “wild” ideas that made us turn our heads! Stories on gold-mining adventures, the world’s biggest bunny, chainsaw artists, vacationing in a yurt, a cidery with a labyrinth maze, and more await readers in this issue.

Also on newsstands: the Virginia Living June issue. Stories include a special look into the Sub Rosa Supper Club, Harrisonburg’s secret dining experience; high-flying with Andy Findlay, a professional plane racer; a trip to the Calgary Stampedes, complete with rodeo entertainment and fried food; the art of Bill Jenkins’ handmade Windsor chairs; and cooling off with seven recipes for boozy ice pops.
